Stobart Rail have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join their growing team based in Carlisle, Cumbria. Job Title: Project Engineer Location: Carlisle, Cumbria Salary: Dependent on experience Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday, 45 Hours per week Stobart Group is an Infrastructure and Support Services business operating in the biomass energy, railway maintenance and aviation sectors as well as having investments in a property and logistics portfolio. Project Engineer - What's the role? Provision of technical support to the Projects Department for the planning and delivery of works ensuring all technical aspects of the works comply with relevant Network Rail Group and Line Standards and safety legislation. Project Engineer - What will I be responsible for? - Understand and implement all safety systems - Responsible for supervision and on site development of junior staff - Set project accountabilities for junior staff - Pro-active in safety management through 4 weekly SQS plan - Responsible for production and approval of Method Statements / Work Package Plans - Understand and ensure implementation of all company engineering requirements - Produce detailed programmes to supplement overall project programme - Produce detailed material and plant take offs - negotiate and place orders for same - Understand contract conditions with client and suppliers, recognise variations to contract and process accordingly - Understand cost and value management and advise operational and commercial staff - Liaise with designers/client/line manager to resolve technical issues - Manage directly employed team/subcontractors/designers activities to achieve programme requirements - Ensure all personnel under your control are fully briefed and work in a safe manner - Chair progress meetings, toolbox talks - Assist in the preparation of the site specific HSEQ plan - Compile information for Health and Safety File - Assist the site in achieving company standards - Ensure you are aware of the contents of all method statements / Work Package Plans / Task Briefings that concern your responsibility on site Project Engineer - Key Skills and Qualifications: Core - Strong understanding of rail infrastructure - Highly effective motivator with strong written and spoken communication skills and capable of interfacing at all levels in the organisation - An ability to handle short term pressures arising from short term deadlines to achieve labour targets - Good decision making and problem solving abilities - Ability to adapt to changing situations - Attention to detail and accuracy - Plan, organise and monitor several activities at the same time - Personal Track Safety (PTS) - Controller of Site Safety (COSS) - Excellent IT skills including Word, Excel and other software packages as appropriate - HND/HNC or above in an engineering discipline or working towards Desirable - Ability to create reports with high visual impact Project Engineer - Experience: Core - Good knowledge of track renewal disciplines - Excellent knowledge of Rules & Regulations, H.A.S.A.W and other appropriate regulations - Excellent knowledge of both group and line standards. - In depth knowledge of all aspects of track renewals disciplines - Sound knowledge of environmental legislation - Understanding of client requirements and specification and timescales - Experience in the railway industry Desirable - Minimum 2 years' experience within relevant engineering fields To submit your CV for this exciting Project Engineer opportunity, please click 'Apply' now!
