East Cambridgeshire District Council have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Officer to join their growing team based in Ely, Cambridgeshire. Job Title: Technical Officer (Domestic) Location: Ely, Cambridgeshire Salary: £21,074 - £29,099 per annum plus benefits package In this varied and interesting role you will be part of a small team responsible for the investigation and enforcement of many aspects of environmental pollution, including leading on Environmental Crime (i.e. littering, dog fouling and fly tipping). It also involves the investigation of noise, lighting, dust and odour complaints and resolution of concerns from the public relating to matters of public health, pest control and housing. The post will involve gathering evidence and carrying out interviews under PACE where necessary. In addition, from time to time you will assist in other specific work programmes undertaken by the team as a whole, such as private water supply sampling, LAPPC inspections, and mobile home site inspections. As our Technical Officer , you will respond to enquiries from businesses and the public, liaising with partner agencies as required, to investigate and resolve complaints using the most appropriate methods available. Such methods could range from an education program to formal enforcement under the relevant environmental regulations. You will be able to demonstrate you have a qualification or relevant experience in enforcement, noise, environmental crime or environmental health or in another investigatory or regulatory role involving evidence collection and case file production, and you will have an interest in and be able to demonstrate an understanding of the legislation applicable to environmental regulation. Experience of Environmental Crime or WAMITAB qualification or noise experience or a qualification would be desirable, but not essential. This varied job is suitable for a wide range of people; relevant training will be provided to the right candidate. No matter what your background is you will be an effective communicator capable of acting on your own initiative, as well as working effectively within a team and have a proven track record of managing a varied workload.
