Durham Constabulary have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Accounts Officer to join their growing team based in Durham. Job Title: Assistant Accounts Officer Location: Police HQ, Durham Salary: Scale 3 £18,123 - £19,317 per annum Hours: 37 hours per week, based on working Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. You can do this by undertaking a support role in Durham Constabulary. Durham Constabulary currently have a vacancy for an Assistant Accounts Officer in the Accounts Payable Team within the Finance Department based at Police Headquarters in Durham. This is not your usual Accounts Payable role. The main focus is processing invoices but the role does undertake a variety of other tasks including petty cash, dealing with seized cash and banking. Every day can provide a challenge as you juggle the daily workload and regular deadlines with the unexpected tasks that operational policing can generate. Assistant Accounts Officer - Key Responsibilities: - To process invoices and claims for payment on the Finance system including processing transactions on the Smart Data System (online purchasing card management system) including providing advice and instruction to cardholders - To ensure payment is only made when the invoices are fully authorized and the goods or services received - To ensure the electronic images held are a true copy - To carry out the necessary clerical duties associated with the preparation and production of cheques, updating cheque records and cheque security - To act as cover for the daily Imprest service and deposit account - To input the cash banking into the Finance system - To provide financial advice and guidance to all employees of the Force, as appropriate and undertake general office and clerical duties as required - To ensure that financial information held on the systems is up to date - To liaise with suppliers and the external/internal auditors as required Assistant Accounts Officer - You: - 4 G.C.S.E. levels (Grade A to C) including English Language or Literature and Maths or an approved equivalent. An individual who possess an equivalent e.g. NVQ must provide evidence of Maths and English - At least 3 months clerical experience, e.g. photocopying, filing, preparing letters and documents from templates, incoming and outgoing postal duties, updating records and systems - Enhanced numerical skills, e.g. performing complex calculations - Enhanced literacy skills, e.g. composing either original memos, letters or short reports on a regular basis, statement writing - Enhanced keyboard skills, e.g. use of spreadsheets, inputting into database systems, etc. where accuracy is essential but speed is not a key demand - Able to work under pressure to meet specific deadlines - Able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team - To be of the highest integrity - To have a respect for diversity and be committed to the principles of Equal Opportunities Assistant Accounts Officer - Benefits: - Durham Constabulary offers a minimum of 26 days annual leave rising to 31 days after five years continuous service - A defined benefit pension scheme (career average) with death in service benefit. - A flexible approach to work/life balance issues and an excellent working environment. - Remote/home working - Online ICT training provision - We offer secure parking on site at competitive rate compared to normal city centre parking charges and are located close to the local bus and train services - We have an onsite café serving fresh food daily and employee kitchen facilities Closing date: 5pm Friday 6 th July 2018 To submit your application for this Assistant Accounts Officer opportunity, please click 'Apply' now.
