Bloxham School have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager to join their growing team based in Bloxham, Banbury. Job Title: Finance Manager (fixed-term) Location: Bloxham, Banbury Salary: up to £35,000 per annum + benefits Hours: 37.5 hours per week To manage the day to day operation of the School's financial operation. To deal with all daily enquiries in a timely fashion and to ensure that the business continues to move forward. To provide the Head of Finance with accurate information from the 'ground' that will influence key strategic direction and decision-making. Finance Manager - Key Responsibilities: - Manage the finance team responsible for the day to day delivery of all aspects of the department including ledger entry, procurement, processing, reporting, authorisation, banking etc - Support the Head of Finance with the information to prepare termly and annual management accounts for Bloxham School Ltd (and its subsidiaries) each term, showing the financial position against budget, including the production of a concise summary of variances and other matters of significance, a cash flow statement and a balance sheet - Responsible for collating and submitting monthly payroll information to outsource provider and maintaining working relationship and service contract - Be on hand to attend the termly Governors' Finance Committee meeting and the weekly Bursary Management Group Meetings - Help the Head of Finance prepare the Statement of Financial Activity (SOFA) in accordance with the charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) and trading accounts ready for the audit each Autumn - Maintain the working relationship and acting as a key point of contact with the School's auditors and bank - Help prepare and then manage the annual school budget - Support the Implementation of new processes and procedures where required and ensure all recommended practices are followed throughout the school to support efficiencies within the department - Monitor income and expenditure in relation to budget and keep the Bursar as well as Head of Finance informed of significant changes and areas of concern - Scrutinise and pass for payment all invoices received in the School in line with authorisation levels, signatory approval and adopted procedures - Provide regular updates to budget holders of their expenditure levels and assist staff with the financial planning of events such as school trips - Ensure that all intercompany transactions are properly reflected in the accounts of each company and in the consolidated financial statements of the school - Prepare Value Added Tax returns, corporation tax returns and income tax repayment claims for each company as appropriate - Process gift aid forms on donations and reclaim tax from HMRC - Assist the Head of Finance with providing financial data for relevant benchmarking surveys and statutory requirements - Provide the Head of Finance with financial information for strategy modelling and statistical analysis - Provide advice to the Bursar and Head of Finance on changes to financial legislation and practice Finance Manager - Qualifications/ Skills/ Experience Essential: - Professional accountancy qualification - Experience of financial management - The ability to produce financial reports - The ability to prepare final accounts for audit - Excellent ICT skills with ability to use Word and Excel to high level - High standards of written and oral communication Desirable: - Experience of financial management in an education establishment - Knowledge of the law and practice relating to charities, income tax, PAYE, benefits-in-kind and VAT - Knowledge of the law with regard to parental contracts, commercial contracts and consumer credit - Familiarity with the WCBS PASS accounts system 37.5 hours a week, typically Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break included. Some longer hours in term time will be balanced by more flexible hours in school holidays. Attendance at some Saturday events, such as school Open Mornings, may be required.
