A DevOps Technical Lead is required to support and work alongside existing client resource in an Agile development project for a Defence customer. The role is to provide dedicated release-to-service support to the clients' innovation and data science capability, as part of a growing programme of work relating to artificial intelligence, algorithm development and machine learning. This is currently conducted using a legacy development environment in the AS domain. The Deployment Lead will work within a small on-site team, interacting with numerous personnel across multiple teams already in place. It is planned that future development activity may also be conducted at other locations, and the Deployment Lead will have a key role in ensuring this wider activity is suitably integrated, tested and released. The role is considered essential to this new way of working, which represents a step-change for the client, allowing them to pursue a more ambitious data science programme. This role will work in conjunction with an existing internal team, operating at a high tempo, and will be expected to be on client site in Cambridgeshire for much of the duration of the project. Some travel to other partner sites will also be required as part of this role. Your future duties and responsibilities Work as Deployment Engineer as part of an operational team in support of data science capability provision. Ensure development outputs (applications and algorithms) are suitably integrated into release modules (or equivalent), and take the lead in progressing these through the relevant stages into live service. The Deployment Engineer will need both a sound understanding and a working knowledge of Defence security policies, process and standards; the 'target systems' for deployment are typically in the AS domain. They will also be engaging with partners (third party and in-house) in support of the release-to-service process including security and accreditation processes. Within the on-site team, the Deployment Engineer will work closely with a Sustainment Lead and the clients' data science resources. Wider responsibilities may also include: • Technical advice and expertise on designs, solutions, tools, techniques and standards • Work with team to break down technical requirements into solutions • Hands on development of real world solutions Desirable • Defence system acquisition experience • Knowledge of Geospatial Systems and Services Security Clearance: DV Clearance required Required qualifications to be successful in this role • University Degree in an Engineering, science, or technical subject • 5-10 years' experience of DevOps or equivalent applications development experience • Excellent technical knowledge and experience across all aspects of IT infrastructure technologies and solutions • Knowledge and experience with: • Deployment tools, including Docker, Kubernetes • Security test automation (e.g, GauntIt, Checkmarx) • A familiarity with Python and R • Knowledge and experience of working with systems in the AS Domain • Demonstrated ability to understand high level technical concepts and communicate issues clearly/accurately to technical/non-technical audiences • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build strong working relationships • Experience of working in complex IT project environment throughout the project lifecycle • Experience of working in a fast moving, complex Customer-oriented environment • Experience of working in a Service Delivery Environment Build your career with us.
